My Approach

I use an integrative approach in my work with patients.  This means I use tools from several different theories of psychology to help you improve yourself.  Specifically, I draw from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and humanistic approaches.
I work with patients age 15 and older.

Psychologist or Psychiatrist?

People are often curious as to the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist. Psychologists provide psychotherapy, not medication.  A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in prescribing medication to manage mood disorders.  I can recommend several psychiatrists in the area should you decide medication is an option that you would like to explore.

Typical Treatment

Our first session, the intake, will last between 60 and 90 minutes.  All sessions after the intake will last between 45-50 minutes.  Some patients desire a course of therapy that is brief, lasting only six to eight sessions.  Other patients feel they benefit from ongoing treatment that may last several years.  Either is acceptable; it's really about finding what works for you.
